JaeWon (born Jimmy Skoog) coming out of Norrtalje, Sweden, made his debut in 2008 with his EP “Some Kind Of Hero”. The five songs on the EP, especially the rock influenced title track, received a lot of positive attention online and all proved that JaeWon didn’t have any plans on caring about the rules usually followed in hiphop music. After writing and recording a full length album that unfortunately didn’t get to see the light of day for the same label that released “Some Kind Of Hero”, JaeWon decided to take matter into his own hands and continue the personal and artistic development he had already started.

For the past year and a half, JaeWon and singer/songwriter Peter Krafft (most known as lead singer of the band Royal Modesty) have been crafting a unique sound where sharp and confident rap is being daringly mixed with playful and creative melodies. All of this accompanied by grand productions by several known and unknown producers, creating an adventurous soundscape similar to no other. The lyrics reflect all sides of JaeWon’s journey – from the dreaming boy who in a Swedish smalltown did everything to break the mold and walk his own path – to the focused, hard-working young man he is today.

Enter “Hometown Hero” – a street album where JaeWon puts it all out there to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with and that he won’t let anything, or anyone, come between him and his dream. The concept behind “Hometown Hero” is heavily inspired by the world of superheroes, a place where JaeWon has found a motivation and a calm that he couldn’t find in the real world.

The first single from “Hometown Hero” is “Lionheart”, an energy-filled song showing the listener that JaeWon is ready for his shot at his dream, and that this is just the beginning…

What’s up,

Here’s a little update on what I’m up to and what I’ve got planned for the future.

1. My 2008 EP “Some Kind Of Hero” will be re-released this week, this time for FREE download. The five original tracks along with four unreleased ones from my 2009 sessions with Jonathan Ojeda. Consider this a warmup for what’s hitting you like a ton of bricks after the summer.

2. I am hard at work, writing and recording my next project “Hometown Hero”. This project is truly a representation of who I am, musically and personally, and I can’t wait to let you all hear it. It will be fantastic when it’s finished.

3. We (me and my trusted, very small team) have already started planning the singles for “Hometown Hero”, videos and even the artwork. Like I said, this project is 100% me and it will be amazing.

That’s all for now, expect the EP to drop in the next few days.

Peace.

Another song from the vaults. Recorded in the beginning of 2009, this was one of the last songs created during me and Jonathan Ojeda’s sessions. This song will NOT be featured on “Hometown Hero“, it’s just a sign of life after months locked in the studio creating new magic. Download the song and spread it like a wildfire.

Hometown Hero” is on its way. Stay tuned.

Hello everyone,

I hope you are doing well and that the world is treating you good. Let’s be honest for a minute

2010 was in many ways the toughest year of my life. But in spite of all the hardships I experienced in my personal life, it was also the best year of my life for two reasons

1. My beautiful daughter was born August 10.
2. Me and my amazing girlfriend have gone through many trials and tribulations, and still stand together stronger than ever.

So, with all that said. 2011 is going to be amazing. I am back on track, back to writing, back in the studio. I will KILL shit in 2011, and you can hold me to that promise.

First thing’s first; NEW SONG DROPPING THIS WEEK. I found something amazing in the vaults, a song called “Look What You Made Me“, which was recorded in the beginning of 2009 with Jonathan Ojeda on the production. So, be on the lookout for that dropping this week.

Peace.

I figured I would try to get back on my blogging shit once again, so why not address something that always seems to bother me. The waiting game.

It often feels like all I ever do is wait around for people to get their shit together. Artists, studio engineers and producers to name a few. This is something that really made me understand why artists learn to do everything themselves. Let me try to break it down for you…

1. A producer contacts me, saying “I’m the shit, listen to my beats. You’ll like ‘em, I promise”. So I listen, and approximately one out of ten times find something I like. Then I contact the producer, and tell him/her I want a song for my project.

2. Then the producer starts procrastinating, talking about “I’ve got a million things to do, but I’ll send you the files soon – I PROMISE…”. Then I wait. Then when I’m tired of waiting, I contact the producer again and get a whole bunch of bullshit excuses.

3. When I FINALLY get the beat, it’s time for me to forget about all the trouble I’ve gone through to make the song actually happen – and get inspired enough to write the damn thing.

4. As I have finished the lyrics for the song, I have to book a studio session. Read number 2 again.

5. When the song has been recorded, I have to get someone to mix it. Read number 2 again.

6. Time to master the mixed song. Read… Well, I think you’ve got it by now.

This is the making of ONE song. Imagine finishing a full project like this, all the while trying to stay positive and creative, thinking “this is my DREAM. I have to make this happen”. Often it is worth it, although sometimes it really makes you question yourself and your dedication…

Hometown Hero – 2011.

Hello!

I have some business related news I want to share with you right now. I am no longer signed to Stonerude Records / Plugged Distribution.

This is a decision that has been long overdue, and one that will make things a lot easier for me in the sense that I will only have to carry my own weight. No hard feelings towards any of the people at the labels, that’s just the way I feel. Thank you for this time, and the best of luck to you all in your future endeavors.

So I am now – what some people may call – a free agent. Since I am going to be putting out my music for free from here on, which I decided a while back – while I was still signed to Stonerude / Plugged – I figured I might as well do this thing on my own. I am not ALL ALONE though, I am building a team of people I trust enough to give responsibilities concerning my music, and I am confident that we will do great things in 2011 and for years to come.

So how will this affect JaeWon as an artist?

First off, Stonerude has given me the rights to my 2008 EP “Some Kind Of Hero”, so those tracks will be released for free download in a couple of weeks. The EP will include the original tracks, along with a couple of brand new bonus tracks.

Other than that, all my professional focus is set on finishing “Hometown Hero” and releasing that project in the beginning of 2011. The reason why “Hometown Hero” hasn’t yet been completed is that I did not want to get any of that material caught up in my business with Stonerude. See? It’s all part of the plan… (Joker voice)

So, let’s get this show on the road. Expect nothing but greatness.

Peace. /Jimmy

So, I borrowed this game from a friend a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t played the first one, so I it’s safe to say I had low expectations. Maybe that was for the best, since this is not really my kind of game…

The graphics are awesome and the design is fantastic, and so are the parkour moments. But that just doesn’t do it for me. I need more than just a bunch of sword fights (that all play out the exact same way), climbing, jumping – you get the picture. The story is weak, and there are NO bossfights at all.

I guess this seems pretty rough, coming from a guy who damn near always finds something to enjoy in every videogame he plays. I mean, I enjoy most Disney games for crying out loud! Despite all this, I am not enjoying this one and I can’t wait ’til I finish these last couple of missions so I can move on.

Peace.

Even though I haven’t played the first “Dead Rising“, I have to say this looks amazing. I have to get this as soon as it drops (on Tuesday in Sweden). Anyone who is familiar with the first game? If so; what did you think about it?

Here’s a song I just dropped online. It’s not a single, or even a song from “Hometown Hero“, it’s just a great song I had in the vaults and felt like sharing with the world. Hope you like it.

Lyrics and vocals by JaeWon. Music and additional vocals by Jonathan Ojeda.

Download, listen and spread it around if you enjoy it. And don’t forget to breathe. More new music coming soon…

It would really mean a lot to me if you would head on over to my Facebook page and press the LIKE button. For extra credit, you can suggest to your friends that they should LIKE it as well. It would mean a lot to me, as I am currently in the beginning of getting things moving and I could really use all the help I can get.

Thanks in advance.
